COMPLAINTS MANAGEMENT

Regulation on the Operation of the Complaints and Appeals Management Mechanism

The Department of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, aiming to enhance a student-centered educational process through transparent procedures, provides its students with the opportunity to submit complaints or appeals where necessary. Throughout their studies, students are encouraged to address the administrative bodies of the Department whenever they consider that the quality of the educational or administrative services provided is not satisfactory and requires improvement. At the same time, they have the right to report in writing any incident that has come to their attention and which undermines the values of respect and dignity upheld by the Department.

For matters not related to examinations and grading, each student may express their complaint or appeal orally to their Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisor examines the content of the matter and either informs the student by proposing possible solutions or forwards the request for further action and decision-making to the Department Assembly.

The formal submission of complaints is carried out through the completion of a form entitled “Complaint Submission Form.” Once completed, the form is submitted electronically to the Department Secretariat at the email address info@law.auth.gr. The Secretariat then receives the document, assigns it a protocol number, and forwards it promptly to the Head of the Department of Law.

The Head of the Department of Law, depending on the content and subject of the complaint or appeal, either resolves the issue directly and informs the student or, if this is not feasible, brings the matter before the Department Assembly.

The Department Assembly, after being informed by the Head, undertakes the examination of the request. It may resolve the issue and inform the student in writing. If, after investigation, the Assembly determines that the complaint or appeal requires immediate legal action, it refers the matter to the University’s Legal Service. The Legal Service then informs the student regarding the actions taken within its competence.
