    Quality Assurance Policy of the School of Law

    The Quality Assurance Policy of the School of Law is fully aligned with the Quality Policy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as approved by the University's Senate, and reflects the Institution's fundamental values.

    The School of Law is committed to safeguarding and promoting the quality of its educational, research and administrative activities through the continuous improvement of all its functions and with the active participation and contribution of all its members.

    The School designs and delivers Master's Degree Programmes of the highest academic standards in the principal disciplines and fields of legal science, aligned with contemporary academic developments and societal needs, thereby strengthening its academic profile. Furthermore, the School is committed to fostering a creative research and working environment for all members of its academic, research and administrative staff, while simultaneously cultivating a dynamic academic environment for its students.

    Quality is recognised as a fundamental prerequisite for the fulfilment of the School's vision and mission. Consequently, the development of a culture of quality is regarded as a strategic priority.

    Implementation of the Quality Policy – Quality Assurance

    The School of Law and in particular the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law & Interdisciplinary Legal Studies is committed to implementing a quality policy that strengthens the academic identity and orientation of its postgraduate programmes, promotes their objectives and academic mission, implements their strategic goals as determined annually, identifies the appropriate means, actions and procedures for achieving those goals, ensures the participation of all stakeholders, and applies the appropriate internal and external quality assurance procedures with the ultimate objective of continuous improvement. In addition, the School is committed to cultivating a climate of communication and cooperation among all members of the academic community, including staff, students and other stakeholders.

    The School of Law and in particular the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law & Interdisciplinary Legal Studies implement the established quality assurance procedures set out in the Quality Manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with the programme-specific adaptations required for postgraduate studies. These procedures are implemented in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the University. Quality assurance procedures constitute an essential instrument enabling both the School and its individual postgraduate programmes to carry out their educational and research activities effectively, achieve their strategic objectives, and continuously enhance their academic performance.

    For the implementation of this policy, the School of Law and the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law and Interdisciplinary Legal Studies are committed to applying quality assurance procedures demonstrating:

    • the appropriateness of the structure and organisation of the Master's Degree Programme;
    • that the intended learning outcomes and qualifications are fully aligned with the European Qualifications Framework and the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education;
    • the promotion of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities of the Master's Degree Programme;
    • the suitability and academic qualifications of the teaching staff participating in the Programme;
    • the formulation, implementation and annual review of specific quality objectives aimed at the continuous enhancement of the Master's Degree Programme;
    • the level of demand for the qualifications acquired by graduates within the labour market;
    • the quality of the support services provided to students;
    • the efficient utilisation of the Programme's financial resources, including those derived, where applicable, from tuition fees;
    • the annual internal evaluation and review of the quality assurance system of the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law & Interdisciplinary Legal Studies, in cooperation with the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA) and the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

    The procedures applied for monitoring and continuously improving the quality of the Master's Degree Programmes include the following:

    • Implementation of the Quality Assurance Policy of the Master's Degree Programme, together with its periodic review and revision whenever required.
    • Design of the Master's Degree Programme in accordance with the applicable legislation and the Regulations of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, taking into consideration, whenever feasible, the views of current students, graduates of both the School and the Programme, and collaborating institutions and organisations.
    • Compliance with the applicable legislative and regulatory framework.
    • Implementation of the Regulations of the Master's Degree Programme, together with all other applicable Regulations and regulatory decisions of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
    • Submission by members of the teaching staff of the Individual Academic Activity Report and the Course Description Form through the electronic information system of the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP).
    • Implementation of student evaluations of courses and teaching staff.
    • Application of diverse methods for the assessment of student performance.
    • Continuous efforts to monitor the academic development and professional careers of graduates of the Master's Degree Programme.
    • Quality assurance concerning teaching staff, including selection procedures, applicable regulations, academic performance and institutional support.
    • Allocation and effective management of the Programme's resources, including infrastructure, facilities, equipment and other available resources.
    • Collection, processing and analysis of complete, accurate and up-to-date quality data of the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law & Interdisciplinary Legal Studies for its continuous improvement.
    • Monitoring, analysing and benchmarking quality indicators against national and international standards.
    • Publication of information concerning the Master's Degree Programme.
    • Continuous and systematic updating of the Programme's official website in Greek, English and, where appropriate, additional languages, ensuring the effective dissemination of all relevant information.
    • Operation of strategic feedback mechanisms, including periodic review, implementation of improvement measures and corrective actions whenever necessary.
    • Conduct of the annual internal evaluation process, including monitoring, review and revision of the Master's Degree Programme, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) and the University's Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP).
    • Support for external evaluation and accreditation procedures in cooperation with the University's Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP).

    Quality Objectives

    The principal quality objectives pursued by the School of Law with regard to the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law & Interdisciplinary Legal Studies are the following:

    1. Continuous revision, modernisation and enhancement of the Master's Degree Programme.
    2. Further strengthening of student-centred learning in the design and implementation of the Programme.
    3. Improvement of student academic performance and achievement.
    4. Reduction of the proportion of students who discontinue or significantly delay the completion of their studies.
    5. Production of research with significant academic impact through publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals, edited scholarly volumes and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
    6. Development and effective utilisation of the Programme's alumni network, within the broader alumni network of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in support of its academic and societal mission.

    Publication

    The Quality Policy is communicated and disseminated to academic and administrative staff, students and all other relevant stakeholders. It is publicly available through the official website of the Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Theory of Law and Interdisciplinary Legal Studies.
