CHARTER OF THE ALUMNI COMMUNITY
Dear Alumna / Dear Alumnus
When you completed your studies in the Postgraduate Study Programme "Theory of Law and Interdisciplinary Legal Studies", you concluded an important chapter of your academic life. You acquired new knowledge, cultivated a different way of thinking, met people who shared common academic interests, and became part of a community whose central focus was dialogue, research and the interdisciplinary approach to law.
Your graduation marked the completion of your studies. It did not, however, mark the end of your relationship with the P.S.P.
From that day onward, you have not simply been the holder of a postgraduate degree. You are a graduate of the Programme. And this status is not confined to a graduation date, nor is it exhausted by a diploma framed on the wall of your office.
The true value of a university programme reveals itself over time. It is reflected in the paths followed by its people. In the decisions they make, the responsibilities they undertake, the ideas they shape, the books they write, the research they produce, the institutions they serve, and the new scholars whom they inspire.
With this thought in mind, we created the Alumni Community.
Not to maintain a list of names.
But to preserve a relationship.
A relationship that was born within the halls of the University and that can continue to develop for many years to come.
Why remain a member of the Community?
The answer is not found in a set of regulations or in a list of benefits.
It is found in your own journey.
Perhaps today you work as a lawyer, a judge, or in any other profession.
Perhaps you teach at a university or another higher education institution.
Perhaps you serve in the public administration, in an international organisation or in an independent authority.
Perhaps you are pursuing doctoral research, participating in research projects or have chosen an entirely different professional path.
The journeys of our alumni are diverse.
This diversity is precisely the Community's greatest strength.
Each member brings new experiences, different knowledge and a unique perspective on law and society. When these experiences come together, they generate new ideas, new collaborations and new opportunities that no individual could develop alone.
The Alumni Community was created to make such encounters possible.
A P.S.P. Lives Through Its People
The quality of a postgraduate programme is reflected not only in its curriculum or in the standard of its teaching. Above all, it is reflected in the journeys of the people who have been part of it.
Every time an alumnus or alumna publishes a book, completes significant research, participates in an international conference, assumes a position of responsibility or receives recognition for his or her work, another chapter is added to the collective history of the P.S.P.
For this reason, we would like to know about your journey.
Not out of curiosity.
Nor for statistical purposes.
But because we believe that the achievements of our alumni constitute the most meaningful continuation of the work that began within the University.
At the same time, your own journey can become a source of inspiration for younger students. Very often, a real example is worth more than any theoretical advice. Your experience demonstrates that the knowledge acquired in the P.S.P. can develop into a creative academic and professional career.
The Alumni Community aspires to highlight these journeys, not in order to present them as achievements for display, but to create a living example of continuity, development and future prospects.
The Community Was Not Created to Remind You of the Past
It Was Created to Accompany You into the Future
At most universities around the world, the relationship with alumni is not based on nostalgia. It is not confined to anniversary events or occasional reunions. It is regarded as a long-term partnership that evolves together with its members.
This is also the philosophy of the Alumni Community of the P.S.P.
We are not inviting you to return to the University because you were once a postgraduate student. We are inviting you to remain connected to a community that continues to evolve, just as you continue to evolve.
Your studies have been completed.
Your academic and professional journey, however, continues.
And it is precisely this journey that interests us.
Not in order to record it.
But in order to share it.
Your Work Deserves to Be Recognised
Every year, graduates of the P.S.P. publish articles, books and monographs. They participate in academic conferences, complete research projects, are appointed or elected to positions of responsibility, undertake significant professional roles and make substantial contributions to the advancement of legal scholarship.
Very often, however, these important achievements remain known only within a limited circle of colleagues and friends.
The Alumni Community aspires to become the natural place where this work is brought to light.
Not as a means of personal promotion.
But as a means of academic communication.
A new monograph may attract the interest of another alumnus or alumna conducting research in the same field.
An article may become the starting point for a new collaboration.
A lecture may lead to a new academic dialogue.
A professional distinction may inspire a new postgraduate student.
Knowledge acquires greater value when it becomes a shared asset.
For this reason, the website of the P.S.P. aspires to become not only a source of information but also a platform for showcasing the academic work of its alumni.
The P.S.P. Website Is Also Your Academic Space
The website of a university programme is not merely a digital repository of announcements.
It is the public face of its academic life.
For this reason, we wish it to develop into a place where the academic activity of our entire community is reflected.
This is not intended to be a simple record of biographical information.
The objective is to create a living academic library through which alumni may become acquainted with one another's work, discover common research interests and develop new collaborations.
In this way, the website is transformed from a source of information into a place of academic encounter.
Your Experience May Become Someone Else's Starting Point
Today, that opportunity is also in your hands.
Today's postgraduate students need people who can share with them the experience of real life. Not to tell them which path they should follow, but to help them discover their own.
Your participation as a mentor, speaker or discussant at an academic event may prove invaluable. Not only because you will transmit knowledge, but because, through your own journey, you will demonstrate how the ideas cultivated within the P.S.P. can be transformed into meaningful academic and professional activity.
The greatest contribution an alumnus or alumna can make is not to provide every answer.
It is to help someone else formulate better questions.
The Most Important Collaborations Usually Begin with an Acquaintance
Graduates of the P.S.P. pursue their careers in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Some serve the judiciary, others practise law, others teach, others conduct research, while others work in the public administration, international organisations or other professions.
This diversity constitutes one of the Community's greatest strengths.
Through its activities, connections can be established that might otherwise never have come into existence. A discussion during a conference, collaboration on a publication, joint participation in an academic meeting or the exchange of views concerning a research topic may develop into lasting academic partnerships.
There is no need to know in advance which meeting will prove decisive.
It is enough that the opportunity for such a meeting exists.
This is one of the principal reasons for the existence of the Alumni Community.
Our Community Has No Borders
Wherever You Are, You Can Remain Part of It
Graduates of the P.S.P. follow different paths. Some continue their academic careers in Greece or abroad. Others pursue careers in legal practice, the judiciary, the public administration, education, business or international organisations. Some change their professional direction, others assume new responsibilities, while others relocate to different countries.
Distance, however, does not have to become separation.
Modern means of communication enable a university community to function without geographical limitations. A lecture may be attended remotely. An academic discussion may take place online. A research group may collaborate on a daily basis even when its members are located on different continents.
The Alumni Community seeks to make full use of these opportunities so that every graduate may participate in the manner that best suits him or her and at the time that is most convenient.
Participation is not measured in kilometres.
It is measured by the willingness to remain connected.
We Stay in Touch with Respect
Meaningful communication is founded upon trust.
For this reason, we wish communication within the Community to remain simple, useful and discreet. We do not seek to fill your inbox with frequent newsletters, nor to invite you continuously to various activities.
We wish to communicate only when there is a genuine reason to do so.
When an important academic event is organised.
When an alumnus or alumna presents a new book.
When a new collaboration is established.
When an opportunity arises that is worth bringing to your attention.
This communication presupposes that your contact details remain up to date. If you change your email address, professional position or place of employment, you may update your information at any time.
All information that you choose to entrust to us is used exclusively for the operation of the Alumni Community and is protected in accordance with the applicable legislation governing the protection of personal data. Dear Alumna,
Dear Alumnus,
No university community is built solely upon its buildings, lecture halls or study programmes.
It is shaped by its people.
You are one of them.
Your presence in the P.S.P. has left its mark. Just as this is true of all those who studied before you, your own journey has now become part of our collective history. A history that is written not only within classrooms, but also continues every day wherever you work, conduct research, teach, create and serve scholarship and society.
We would like this relationship not to come to an end.
We would like to know your ideas, to share in your achievements, to meet you at our academic events, to collaborate with you on new initiatives and to continue cultivating the open dialogue that began on the very first day of your studies.
We are not inviting you to return to the past.
We are inviting you to build the future together with us.
The Alumni Community does not belong to the P.S.P.
It belongs to the people who constitute it.
It belongs to you as well.
We look forward to continuing this journey together with you.
YOUR PLACE IN THE P.S.P. DOES NOT END WITH GRADUATION.

A PERSONAL INVITATION
The publication of this Charter of the Alumni Community coincides with a particularly significant moment for all of us.
The Graduation Ceremony for the Conferral of the Graduation Commendations, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 1 October 2026, at 12:00 noon, in the Ceremonial Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,is not merely the formal occasion marking the award of the Postgraduate Diploma of Specialisation. It also constitutes the symbolic starting point of the Alumni Community of the Postgraduate Study Programme "Theory of Law and Interdisciplinary Legal Studies"On that day, a period of study will not simply come to an end. A new relationship of cooperation, communication and shared academic development will be inaugurated—one which we hope will continue for many years to come.
The presence of all graduates at the Graduation Ceremony for the Postgraduate Degree Holders and their Welcome to the Alumni Community will lend particular symbolic significance to this first gathering of our Community and will mark the beginning of a new and creative shared journey.
For this reason, we kindly ask you to arrange your professional and personal commitments well in advance so that you will be able to attend the Graduation Ceremony.
It will be a great pleasure and honour for all of us to welcome you, this time not only as graduates of the P.S.P., but also as the first members of the Alumni Community Community of our Programme.
